So, it seems like there are many people out there who don't understand how important sourcing and crediting others really is.
Anime/manga theories may be silly to some people, but regardless of one's opinions, they are still pretty hard to make, especially good ones.
My Nanika origin theory took me a couple of days to finish, since I had to go back and re-read many chapters and do some research on the wiki to make sure there were no mistakes on my part. Then I had to gather all this material, like taking images from a lot of different chapters that went all the way back to Yorkshin City Arc, write everything in a cohesive way, and once I put everything together, that is what you got.
However, this wasn't a theory I made for myself, it was for the whole fandom. It was so people could especulate and discuss.
So if people talk about it, of course I will be happy. And soon a lot of people heard of it.
But what would happen if someone decided that my work and efforts didn't matter and took it as their own? Happy is the last thing I'd be.
What I want to say is, DO NOT STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK!
It doesn't matter if it's a simple manga theory, if it's not yours, don't claim it as yours.
Crediting content creators may be a small thing, but it means a lot, trust me.

Hunter X Hunter Theory - Nanika is a Dark Continent Calamity
I posted this theory about a week ago on a Youtube video, but since then I thought it'd be better to make a proper theory post here, with images and everything. So buckle your seatbelts because this will be a long one.
The new oncoming arc in the series: The Dark Continent.
It's barely started and it already seems incredibly interesting, and as far as HxH go, pretty complicated as well. However, we still have some lingering questions from the last, Election Arc; mainly pertaining to one character: Alluka Zoldyck.
This theory will be divided into 3 parts, so let's start now, shall we?
PART 1 - MAHA ZOLDYCK AND ISAAC NETERO
All right, with that being said, I'd like to start this theory with another character: Alluka's great-great-grandfather, Maha Zoldyck.
The theory I posted said that Maha Zoldyck once went to the Dark Continent. According to the latest chapter (342), there have been 149 attempts to go to the DC, and out of all of them, there were only 28 survivors. Out of these 28 survivors, only 3 were able to return to their everyday normal lives. My guess here is that these three people were: Isaac Netero, Beyond Netero and Maha Zoldyck.
Isaac stated that he went to the DC twice in his youth, so I don't believe it'd be too far-fetched to think Maha accompanied him in one of these trips.
Here's my reason
The only person to have fought Maha and survived. I'm more surprised by the fact that Maha survived! But in that statement we can assume that Maha is a pretty damn strong person. And if he can fight against Isaac Netero, perhaps he also gained that strength in the DC.
Continuing the theory, as a result, after Maha returned, Alluka got infected by one of the Calamities; more specifically, the Gas Life-Forms called AI.
Now you may ask: Why did Alluka get infected and not Maha?
According to Killua, this is the Zoldyck Family intercorrelation diagram.
See Maha in the bottom right corner there? For a life-form that seeks for co-dependence, what good would it do to stay attached to a person who doesn't seem to care about anything or anyone, even from his own family?
Also, and this is a speculation, if you consider the Gas Life-Forms as a sentient species, they could easily realise that Maha was their worst choice and that Alluka would be the best one. Considering she was a child girl who has been denied by her family, and the only person who trully loved her was Killua (whom at the time was being controlled by Illumi), her dependence towards Killua seems rather logical; therefore, so does the "transference" of the callamity from one body to the other.
PART 2 - ALLUKA'S "POWERS" AND NANIKA
Before I begin talking about her powers, I's like to say that I DON'T BELIEVE HER POWERS ARE NEN-BASED!
I'll get into the reason why soon, but first let's take a look at them.
Alluka... Or better yet, Nanika can grant a wish after 3 of her random requests are met. If a person denies her 4 times, they die. You can wish just about anything, however, the greater the wish, the greater the next requests will be. I won't give the full explanation of her abilities here because it'd take too long and this is pretty much all I need for this, but if you want to know more, just check the Wikia.
As for the reasons why I don't believe her powers are nen-based, here they are:
1. Killua was the first to know about them, and he did not know about Nen at that time.
2. Silva and Kikyo were surprised to find out about her powers, which means that nobody taught her about Nen.
3. This image
Remember when Kurapika was learning about Nen and he said that there are things that are impossible to make, due to it being beyond humans abilities?
Well, Alluka was able to control causality by making a zeppelin full of money change its course and drop all the money inside just to grant a wish. That seems to go way beyond human abilities. So as far as Nen goes, her powers are a direct contradiction to what was estabilished in the beggining of the series.
PART 3 - GAS LIFE-FORMS AI
The last part of the theory revolves around one of the Calamities. However, I will be going back and forth between AI and Alluka/Nanika here as well. In chapter 341 they were introduced, and this one caught my attention more than the others because it fit the theory better.
I'd like to say that AI is a sentient species because of two reasons:
1. They seem to simply follow Killua's orders and grant him wishes without any backlash. The reason being (and this is me speculating again) is that the desire of co-dependence is aimed towards him.
2. Alluka/Nanika has never wished anything from her parents. Why? To prevent them from possibly dying? Maybe Alluka's feelings interfeered with that, them being her family and all.
It also seems quite strange that Nanika gets really tired after healing someone. Well, if you consider this the work of a calamity, it makes sense. Calamities aren't good with healing things because, well, they're calamities.
Either way, while getting an explanation on the 5 calamities, we were also shown a few bodies here and there, which were affected by them. This is where it all started to connect for me:
These bodies look exactly like the bodies of people who fail Nanika's requests.
It can't be a coincidence, so it has got to be a connection there. And to further my suspicions, they were all found in the regular human world.
And let us not forget about Silva's words.
And to end this theory, when Nanika grants a wish, she says the word "Aye", which is a homophone of "AI". Normally I wouldn't mention that, but considering that there were a lot of wordplays in the Election Arc, this seems to me like an important detail.
Thanks for reading!
